Our story
Born in a settler cottage. At home in Walmer.
It started on a surfing holiday in Madagascar. An elderly man pedalled past on a rustic green bicycle, his basket brimming with fresh baguettes, and the founders fell in love with artisanal bread on the spot. They brought that memory home to Port Elizabeth, opened a bakery in a restored settler cottage in Richmond Hill in 2006, and named it after the hotel where they stayed: Vo Vo Telo.
That little bakery grew into Vovo Telo cafés across South Africa, from the V&A Waterfront to Sandton. Every one of them traces back to this city. The Walmer bakery keeps the original flame burning: traditional methods, the finest ingredients, and bread baked properly, from scratch, every day.
